BA (Hons) Fashion Jewellery
Born in Athens, Olga Pastra moved to London in 2008 where her interest in Fashion Jewellery fully took form during her Foundation Year at Central Saint Martins. Although always having been interested in Jewellery design, a yearâs exposure to various fashion subjects in the space of her foundation year made her want to combine two interests: Fashion and jewellery, thus seeking to push creative boundaries of traditional jewellery in search of a fashion-forward result. Her final project draws inspiration from the beauty of the circus. She remembers distant childhood memories and her amazement at every circus experience. The beauty of the colours, the geometry and the range of the movement was reflected in various forms ranging from the acrobatsâ performances, to the great tents, or again the various props used (fire, trapeze, rings). Olga thus sought to encapsulate the movement of these unique shapes and colours, and recreate the excitement and the magic to be found in the unique experience that is the circus. She sees her work as being accessible to various styles as well as various types of people. Capable of being dressed up or dressed down, she has nuanced the hard use of metal with a softer touch of colourful semi-precious stones. It is therefore the essence of the circus, in all its various forms, that translates, in flamboyance or discretion, and transports its world of wonder to the beholder.
