CIRQUE- Necklace: Bronze Gold Plated With Semi Precious Stones Olga Pastra

BA (Hons) Fashion Jewellery

Born in Athens, Olga Pastra moved to London in 2008 where her interest in Fashion Jewellery fully took form during her Foundation Year at Central Saint Martins. Although always having been interested in Jewellery design, a year’s exposure to various fashion subjects in the space of her foundation year made her want to combine two interests: Fashion and jewellery, thus seeking to push creative boundaries of traditional jewellery in search of a fashion-forward result. Her final project draws inspiration from the beauty of the circus. She remembers distant childhood memories and her amazement at every circus experience. The beauty of the colours, the geometry and the range of the movement was reflected in various forms ranging from the acrobats’ performances, to the great tents, or again the various props used (fire, trapeze, rings). Olga thus sought to encapsulate the movement of these unique shapes and colours, and recreate the excitement and the magic to be found in the unique experience that is the circus. She sees her work as being accessible to various styles as well as various types of people. Capable of being dressed up or dressed down, she has nuanced the hard use of metal with a softer touch of colourful semi-precious stones. It is therefore the essence of the circus, in all its various forms, that translates, in flamboyance or discretion, and transports its world of wonder to the beholder.

' Sun Up' ( Suede and Mahogany Wood)

BA (Hons) Cordwainers Accessories: Product Design & Development

An interest in an understated aesthetic that enhances the subtleties of carefully sourced and selected materials has inspired this range. Palm Springs 'Desert Modern' Style, has provided further inspiration in the use of clean lines, deceptively 'simple' forms and saturated colour. Soft suede and mahogany wood provide contrasting texture yet combine to give the range a unique tactility and warmth. A relaxed range, designed to appeal to those seeking a retreat from complexity and excess.

BA (Hons) Cordwainers Accessories: Product Design & Development

The concept for the collection comes from the camouflage and deceptive techniques of nature to protect itself, using print to distort shape and what the eye is drawn to, to confuse and disguise. There is also a playful element with the shapes of pockets, which are camouflaged with the print, giving an edge to further deceive and confuse. There are three different clashing classic prints used with various versatile themes of bags and accessories, including beach, work and evening, with interesting 3D pocket shapes to match, each with a sense of character and humour. My aim was to create a unique unisex collection to really push the boundaries in terms of playing with shape and form, creating an element of suprise and fun whilst still being functionable and easy to wear, letting the consumer show personality with the pieces. My approach to accessories is to create something playful with personality, with unique and modern approaches to material pushing shape and form with a fun twist and perspective, creating a suprise.

RP2 Plaster fit

BA (Hons) Cordwainers Footwear: Product Design & Development

The complexity of shoe making fascinates me. As a designer during my time at college, I have been very motivated to learn and explore the use of untested and untried materials and applied them to fashion footwear. I enjoy the whole process of imagining a concept and discovering how I could bring those ideas to life. It is always such a learning curve. As a very outgoing and creative person, I find inspiration in every corner but lately after interning at Adidas (Germany), I was hugely interested in how science, technology and engineering could come in to the “footwear equation” to produce fit, comfort, stable shoes that look fashionable and innovative but also are aware of anatomy and functionality. As a final year project, I developed a concept footwear brand named RAIGHELT. The brand is a celebration of innovation and technology that meets a diversity of traditional known crafts, to create unique hybrid luxury products. It is a platform for exploration. By the use of edgy materials and the thoughtfulness of its designs, Raighelt latest collection communicates a rather powerful rebellious look with futuristic aesthetics that embodies the unexpected. The use of rapid prototyping was essential to the making of the sole units since it provided extreme accuracy and grounds for creativity. Each design was meant to be a statement piece and was very much inspired by geometric shapes, kaleidoscopes colour ways and the use of optical technology materials. Looking back over the final year I feel I was able to realise my vision for the brand and it will serve as a starting point for my career. After graduation on July 2012 I hope to get experience from the industry, so I intend to take on a full time job in either luxury footwear or sports footwear and I will continue to develop my brand as a side project. Layering, both literal and visual is the essence of my final collection. Inspired by the clothing worn by 19th century fishermen, broken polaroids photos, and deep sea creatures. I have researched fabrics and fabric techniques that have enabled me to create designs that challenge the idea of layering, and to create clothing that is colourful, layered and unique.

BA (Hons) Bespoke Tailoring

Studied Newham College: Bespoke Tailoring Pre-apprenticeship programme. Currently completing Ba Hons. LCF. Worked: F.A. Stone and Sons, bespoke and military tailors. Haywards bespoke tailors. Work concerns psychological and social functions that clothing plays: The effect clothing plays on routine and working practice. Functionally and emotionally. "Uniforms: Wipe out economic and social indicators of dress, ostensibly causing less hostility." Clothing being an outward impression of person; shaped and manipulated by environment and activities. Becoming 'bespoke' through the wearing-in, familiarity and love for a garment. The imperfections and rich tapestry created by wear. Within this collection a series of artist's workwear uniforms have been developed. Conceptually, the artist's identity and outward manifestation of self has been investigated. The outward projection of the artist and their inward rituals.

The Detachable Support- Close up

BA (Hons) Fashion Design and Development

A socially aware Womenswear designer who finds the most inspiring ideas arise from current affairs and issues relating to climate change. Furthering this, her final year Revolutionary Outerwear range was an emotionally driven collection deriving from one's inability to speak up for one's beliefs and individual identity, which in turn forces one to hide away and blend in the crowd. The two-faced garments allow the wearer to choose which side they would like to sport depending on their mood or the situation their in. Colour plays an integral part in this collection. Looking into the idea that dark colours act as a disguise for ones identity and bright colours create life in an individual and through thorough research developing vibrant prints to acknowledge the idea that camouflage is the new way of seeing. Rebecca is very versatile, having completed a 14-month placement at Puma International in Development of Garments, Fabric and Trims; her Design skills have been heightened and she now has the ability to combine creativity with practicality to build workable products.

The personal aspect of choosing a tattoo is an exciting process. I have incorporated the concept of using tattooing as a means of leather surface decoration into my range; allowing the customer, in liaison with the designer, to develop a customized pattern to be applied to the upper using laser engraving techniques. Taking inspiration from the linear quality of Mehndi design, along with the exotic, distinctive fluid shapes of the Royal Pavillion in Brighton, I have developed this idea to be applicable to footwear, with the hand dyed leather in conjunction with subtle stitch decoration combining to give a visual feast to enhance the customer experience.
